Tree Wisdom ~ Channeled Messages 1-31-2024

The spirit of so many trees have been talking to me this week! I know this might seem strange because we are right in the middle of the dead of winter, but the trees and the magic that they offer to us in the warmer months, truly begins in the silence and deprivation of winter!

This is a very deep and healing message for all of us!

When we think of trees, we may typically think of them most fondly in the spring and summertime bursting with vibrant life. As the warm breeze sets the scene for a beautiful and complex dance amongst their leaves and branches, we walk and sit underneath them and enjoy the shade they provide and the beauty of the sun shining upon them. Why do we not reflect more on how much work they have to do in the winter time? Giving up their leaves in the fall, storing and building up nutrients and protecting themselves throughout the long harsh winter? Perhaps we are simply in a rush to “get to the good stuff” so that we don’t have to feel the cold of the unknown or that which we’ve worked so hard to stuff down and forget?

Slowing down physiologically offers a way to protect against the harshness of winter. Trees can’t go below ground, as some smaller plants may; rather, trees encounter the winter, directly. Some trees can live hundreds (even thousands) of years making it difficult to imagine the extreme winter conditions that affect the tree over its lifetime. Trees persist, however, through the bitterness of deep winter over and over again.

Have you been feeling like a tree in winter lately?

Make note that the tree never questions this ongoing series of life, death, shedding and rebirth. It stands its ground and continues to embrace its own strength, and continues on, ready to bloom even more gorgeously every year!

Will you commit to honoring yourself in this way until spring and beyond?

Tree energy invites you to share in its wisdom today and allow yourself to simply be. To listen and just BE IN THE HERE AND NOW. Ask the questions you need to and ponder what emotions and energy comes up for you. Where could you be stronger and stand your ground? How will you plan to grow when spring comes again? What nutrients do you need now that you aren’t getting enough of?

You are being asked to embrace your quiet strength and self appreciation! Sometimes it feels like the answers need to be loud. Sometimes we feel like we need to fight to be heard. Sometimes our reactions are like the thunder within a rainstorm, but NOW is the time for quiet reflection. Go within, and tend to the nutrition of your soul!

AND SO IT IS!

In conclusion, I leave you with one of my all-time favorite poems… I invite you to read it more than once, perhaps several times and let it hold your heart just as it should!

Sleeping in the Forest
By: Mary Oliver

I thought the earth
remembered me, she
took me back so tenderly, arranging
her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds. I slept
as never before, a stone
on the riverbed, nothing
between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated
light as moths among the branches
of the perfect trees. All night
I heard the small kingdoms breathing
around me, the insects, and the birds
who do their work in the darkness. All night
I rose and fell, as if in water, grappling
with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.
